Temperature Controlled Shipping
A temperature controlled, also known as a reefer, is a type of trailer designed to transport temperature-sensitive goods, such as food, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals. The term “reefer” comes from the refrigeration unit that is mounted on the front of the trailer, which provides a controlled environment for the cargo.
Reefers come in various sizes and configurations, ranging from small vans to large trailers that can carry up to 44,000 pounds of cargo. The interior of a reefer is typically insulated and lined with stainless steel or aluminum to ensure that the temperature is maintained throughout the entire trailer.
